8/14/2017 0 Comments Kindergarten AdventuresSo this past week has had its up and downs. I stayed home all day Monday through Wednesday, enjoying the last few days with my brother before he started kindergarten. Then Thursday, I went with him to be the surrogate mother, my mom had work (she's a school teacher) and it was so sad! I was not expecting to cry and was doing fine while they talked to all the parents in the classrooms. Then it came time to tell him goodbye. I was holding it together, even though my heart was breaking, until he said, "Bye Ashley. Go away, so I can learn." I barely made it out of the school before I was sobbing. I missed him all day, missed the TV blaring Cartoon network in the background, the toys scattered all across the floor. But then he came home and told me what a wonderful day he had, and then I was okay.
Friday, I had a quiet day at home, and that evening my entire family went out to eat to celebrate the first week of school. Of course, only four of them had gone back to school, while three of us (my older stepsister, me, and my younger stepsister) don't start classes until the 23rd. Then we went home and had a nice bonfire, while I was eaten alive by mosquitos. On Saturday, I had gotten up early to go cheer on my little cousin in his first 5K. He is only six, and loves to run! He ran the 5K in 31 minutes, but would have been faster if he hadn't been scared of crossing the road. They had blocked it off, with firetrucks and police officers. A cop was telling him it was okay to cross and he said he couldn't because his mom wasn't there! After he crossed the finish line, he drank half a bottle of gatorade and went to play on the playground, while the teenagers were dying and out of breath. After the awards (where he placed second in his age category 9 and under) he asked if he could run it again! We didn't do much the rest of the day, just went back home and hung out. Then yesterday, my mom, stepdad, and I drove to Berea (where my stepsister goes to college) and helped her move in. It was crazy! We got there and ate lunch (which was delicious but we regretted it later), but it took almost an hour to get our food! Then again we were in prime after church lunch traffic. Then we all drove over to her dorm, and she wasn't sure if she was supposed to even be there. Finally we got it all sorted out, she was supposed to be there, and started bringing in her stuff Looking at how much she brought, it made me look like an over-packer when I go back to school! But then again she was in a small single room, and forgot several things at her house. Because her school is only about an hour or so from mine, we are taking some of her forgotten stuff down to her when I move in next Sunday. Speaking of which, I better go. I have several things to do today to prepare for the move-in next week. I hope you all have a fabulous week! about BloggingI will try to post a blog every week, if not every other day. It depends on what happens during the week/day, but I will post every week. It just that some weeks may seem boring, which is where I will blog about the week and then will provide an anecdote from my childhood. That's besides the point, I hope you enjoy reading!
